This 2008 Limited Edition ornament commemorates the opening of President Lincoln's Cottage to the public for the first time, and celebrates the completion of its restoration.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation, in cooperation with the Armed Forces Retirement Home, has restored the Cottage to the 1860's, when Abraham and his family resided seasonally at the Soldiers' Home from June to November to escape the heat and political pressure of life in the White House. During the months that he lived there, Lincoln rendered some of the most important decisions about the Civil War and the direction of our democracy, including drafting the revolutionary Emancipation Proclamation.

Beautifully presented in a dark green box highlighted with gold foil artwork of the enclosed 2008 Limited Edition ornament -- makes it ready for gift-giving and provides protective storage year after year.

Solid brass finished in sparkling 24-karat gold with colored enamel accents. Size 2-1/4" x 3".
